iTunes is working better
I guess all I needed to do was publicly humiliate it. Now that I've slandered its character by complaining that I couldn't get iTunes to automatically import all of the songs on a CD on insertion, then eject it when it was done, it's working. Just goes to show that threats and intimidation sometimes work, even on software.
