iPod & Bose QuietComfort 2 rule

I travelled to Sunnyvale, California today, and used my iPod with the Bose QuietComfort 2 noise cancelling headphones the whole way. It was great! My seats were in the back of the plane, and the noise cancelling headphones specifically and explicitly cancelled a lot of the mechanical noises (they didn't help much with the noisy teenagers behind me, unfortunately). This was especially striking when I turned off my iPod first, then turned off the headphones. An irritating set of whines faded it when I turned off the headphones. I turned them on again, and the whines faded out. The noise cancelling headphones really do more than just sound good; they do eliminate some types of noise. That made the trip way more palatable than normal for me.

I highly recommend the combination for travellers. The cool thing is that the iPod even fits inside the headphone case, which comes with its own carrying strap.
