Finally paved Grandale

The first few times I drove on Grandale, I though that it was bad and probably would be fixed soon. So the poor road quality didn't detract from my decision to buy a house in a subdivision off of Grandale. It became more and more frustrating (like the proverbial Chinese water torture) to have to use it whenever I was headed in the Chapel Hill direction from my house; so much so that in the last year I'd started going around longer ways to avoid it.

Early this summer, orange 'road construction ahead' signs appeared but were obscured. That was the first positive sign that change was ahead. Finally, several weeks ago, some of the foundation work was done (the worse parts were ripped up and patched), and then last week the new surface was laid. I decided to hold off on this blog entry until they painted the dividing line; now that is done. It will be interesting to see how long the finish work takes, but it is now a pleasure to enter and leave the neighborhood via Grandale!
